Xiaomi refreshes the SU7 with a wider chassis tune, faster charging and a sharper brake package

Xiaomi has given its SU7 electric sedan a meaningful hardware update, sharpening the car’s chassis, braking and charging story rather than dressing up the same formula with minor trim changes. The revised SU7 line now pairs a stiffer-sounding dynamic setup with wider rear tires, fixed front brake calipers and a claimed top CLTC range of 902 kilometers on the latest configuration sheet.

Xiaomi SU7 gains a more serious chassis setup

The most telling changes are underneath the bodywork. Xiaomi says the SU7 Pro and Max versions now use a closed dual-chamber air suspension with CDC adaptive dampers, while the full range moves to 265 mm rear tires and fixed front calipers. On the standard and Pro models, the front brakes are now four-piston fixed units; the Max gets Brembo four-piston hardware. Xiaomi also says the revised calibration cuts suspension harshness in Comfort mode and adds lateral support in Sport mode.

For a sedan that already leaned on speed and software, that matters. The new hardware points to a car that is being tuned less like a showcase gadget and more like a real high-speed EV, with more emphasis on repeatable braking feel, body control and traction on wet or uneven roads.

Charging and range headline the updated powertrain story

Xiaomi’s configuration materials also push the electrical side of the car harder. The SU7 family now sits on a silicon-carbide high-voltage architecture, with the standard and Pro versions listed at a peak voltage of 752V and the Max at 897V. Xiaomi says the lineup can deliver up to 902 km of CLTC range in its most efficient form, while the long-range focus is carried through the rest of the range as well.

That kind of figure will be read carefully by EV shoppers, but the more important point is that Xiaomi is pairing headline range with a platform that is clearly being positioned for fast replenishment and long-distance usability, not just launch-day bragging rights.

SU7 production keeps the sedan in the spotlight

The update arrives as Xiaomi continues to build out the SU7’s presence in the market and deepen the car’s specification rather than rushing into a second act too early. Xiaomi’s official materials still frame the sedan as the company’s flagship EV effort, with the SU7 Ultra sitting at the performance end of the range and the refreshed SU7 family carrying the mainstream volume role.

That matters because Xiaomi is trying to establish credibility in a segment where hardware detail counts. Wider rubber, revised suspension and stronger brakes are the kind of changes that enthusiasts notice immediately, and they are also the sort of updates that help an EV feel more mature once the novelty of the brand name wears off.

Why the SU7 update matters beyond China

For now, Xiaomi’s car business remains centered on mainland China, so the immediate audience is domestic buyers rather than U.S. shoppers. Even so, the SU7’s latest update is worth watching because it shows how quickly a smartphone maker can iterate on an EV program once the car is in market: add grip, firm up damping, upgrade braking, and push range numbers higher without changing the basic shape of the product.

That is the kind of progression that keeps the SU7 from feeling like a one-off launch and makes it look more like the start of a proper automotive lineup.
